Adult councils are big advocates for issues affecting all Latinos in Texas. From filing lawsuits against entities who are prejudiced towards the Latino population, to advocating for fair Hispanic representation in city councils, to fighting for students who are discriminated against by school boards, they work tirelessly to achieve equal rights for all.
Young adult or "collegiate" councils are based in community colleges and universities. With the mentorship of adult councils, they participate in career and professional development sessions. As leaders in their community they focus on increasing voter engagement, hosting educational events, volunteering and civic engagement.
Youth councils are based in local high schools; they are sponsored and mentored by adult councils in their area. Youth members participate in leadership training, career exploration, volunteering and civic engagement. As the members who keep up with most recent trends, LULAC youth have taken on social media efforts and online activism to engage in discussions about social justice.
